 Regulations/Rules to Abide By
« Thread Started on Mar 16, 2008, 1:32pm »

[Forum Rules]-
[1.] Respect every member of the site, even staff. If you have a problem talk to an admin.
[2.] Absolutely no spamming allowed! Anyone caught spamming will be deleted and banned from the site.
[2a] Spamming includes, emailing members about other sites randomly, posting advertisements on a board it is not supposed to be on…etc…
[3] This is a PG-13 Site. Therefore, follow the guidelines set up for PG-13.

[Graphics]-
[1.] No obscene things within avatars or signatures will be permitted.
[2.] Signatures should only be 400 x 200... NO BIGGER, EVER!
[3.] If signatures stretch the board, a.k.a bigger than appropriate size, you will be asked to resize them, or it will be taken off.
[4.] Avatars are to be no bigger than 100 x 100 pixels
[5.] Animation in either avatars and/or signatures is not permitted. If you have anything that moves within a graphic, you will be asked to remove it.

[RolePlaying/Posting]-
[1.] No Godmoding, power playing, or super power playing. This means don’t control someone else’s character without first giving them a chance to react on what your character has done to them.
[2.] Minimal cursing is allowed but this does not entail the F word, female dog, and b*****d! Even a**hole is too much and should not ever be used.
[3.] No overly descriptive elderly conditions. No one wants to be reading along and all the sudden find some detailed description about how the your character had an accident in their pants or bed or what happened in the shower….etc…
[4.] Post should always be made in 3rd person and past tense.
Bad: I walked to the window.
Bad: Bryce is walking to the window.
Good: Bryce walked to the window.
[4a] But when your character is speaking, do NOT speak in the third person, unless for some reason your character does. This will be RARE and probably not ACCEPTABLE EVER.
[5.] No double posting. Acceptable, however, on OOC boards.
[6.] No posts less than 150 words in length. It's easy to know how many words, for just below the posting box, it says how many words you've posted. (Using Quick Reply doesn't have this option.) LOOK AT IT! (Remember, a sentence contains a subject, verb, begins with a capital letter, and ends with some form of punctuation).
[7.] Post in abc-abc fashion; this means, that if you are in a thread with more than one person, you are NOT to post after every post posted within the thread. This causes irritation, and doesn’t help a story along.

[Characters]-
[1.] Character limit: Writers can have up to 3 characters on this site as long as every one of them is active. This is 3 characters per IP address... unless you can prove to us that there is more than one person using the same IP address. This keeps everything neat and tidy for the admin team, and the sight as active with as many characters as possible.
[2.]All characters must each be on their own separately registered accounts and your characters first and last name should be your display name.

**Note**
If you are a new member and make a character, we ask that you please wait a month before asking to submit another to RP on the site. This is so we get a feel for you on the site, and you get a feel for us as well and if you like it here. We are an advanced RPG and take what we do here very seriously. We hope that with your joining us, you do, too.

[3.] Be realistic! Every character has flaws, so include them in your Rping!
[4.] Since we are being realistic, be human. No one is super-human and most of you on the site will be old. How do you see someone acting in a nursing home? Now, RP it.
[4.] If your character is deleted it is up to the admin what has happened to him or her. More than likely your character will have passed away.

[Breaking Rules]

THREE STRIKE RULE:

[Strike One (1):]
Any rule broken will result in a warning PM to you and you will be told not only of what you have done but how to undo what rule you have broken.
For example: If you did not post 150 words or more, you will be asked to modify your post to increase the length to the appropriate size....etc....

[Strike Two (2):]
Any rule broken for a second time will result in an email explaining what rule you have broken and why there is a one-week ban on your account. After the week is up, you will be allowed to return and RP as per the norm.

[Strike Three (3):]
If you have the unfortunate dealings of having broken rules on this site three times, you will be banned for an entire month. An email will be sent to you about why you have been banned and will explain when your account will be reopened to you.

There are no fourth strikes. After the last third strike you are given one LAST chance to come back and RP. If you break rules for a fourth time, you will no longer be welcomed at this site as an RPer.
Also, depending on the circumstance of the rule and how it is broken, strikes may be skipped, and immediate action may be taken.

[LoA:]
[Leave of Absence Rules and Regulations]

Description: LoA or Leave of Absence is a method in which you can request that your account be kept around on the site, when you yourself cannot be. It is a way to bypass the monthly purges when you realize that Real Life is making it so RPing is difficult or cannot be done for a while. We at Athena's Garden respect our members and know that they have Real Lives and are sometimes more busy than what they can handle, therefore too busy to keep up their activity within the regulations of what some sites require. When an account is put on LoA, the character is immune from being deleted or purged until the LoA status is up, or the role player returns.

[How does one aquire LoA status?]

Easy. If you find that you need a long term break, or Real Life is bogging you down with stress to the point where you cannot possibly continue RPing on Athena's Garden, and yet would still like to be a member, then all you have to do is PM any of the admin team, or the Athena's Garden Admin account (sn: admin) to request your status be placed as such. From there, you're account will be put on LoA until such time you come back and request that you'd like to return, or your accounts expiration date is up.

Expiration date? What do you mean by that?]

Simply put, after six months of being LoA, a person is most likely not going to return to a site. They have found by then, either something better to do, or are just too busy to role play. In this case of waiting half a year, the admin team will purge the account assuming that you have decided not to rejoin Athena's Garden. There will be an email sent to you, two weeks prior the deletion of the account, however, if there is no response then the account will be deleted without thought. After six months, your account and the LoA status has expired.

[How will we know if someone has been put on LoA status?]

A person who has decided to go on a Leave of Absence will be recognizable by the 'LoA' that will be placed within their mini profiles just above their avatar picture. It will say just simply, LoA. Simple enough to see, and simple enough to remove when the person decides they'd like to come back to the Nursing Home.

[Being taken off of LoA status:]

To be taken off of LoA status, just as its been previously mentioned, PM the Admin account, or any of the Administrative team. You'll be taken off LoA status as soon someone is online and is able to process your request.

Important Notes:
  • When on LoA stutus, you can still post occasionally if you find that you have a minute to spare or something of the sort. However, if you become very active, please don't be irate if the admin team PMs you to see how you are doing and ask if you would like to be taken off the status. We're just wondering, and excited to see that you're back and posting. If you don't want to be taken off quite yet, you are still under the six months period and in the last two weeks, will be emailed asking what you'd like to do then...
  • LoA Status is usually granted when a person finds that they are going to be away for more than two or three weeks. We do not need to know why you are requesting the LoA status, for that is your own business and we respect your privacy, we just ask that you do ask for the status before leaving Athena's Garden fully, that way we can ensure that your account with us remains untouched.
  • Adopted CANON Characters: If put on LoA for more than one month, we have the right to remove them from your possession, due to the fact that they are crucial playing pieces for Athena's Garden to grow as an RPG. Sorry for the inconvenience.
  • These rules can change at anytime, so please look back here once and a while to see that LoA is still the same. We don't imagine it will change much, but the Administrative team reserve the right to change them if we feel something is conflicting or not working well enough for the progress of AG. Thank you for your cooperation.
